GENESIS 15:2-3 | 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no offspring, so a slave born in my house is to be my heir.”
In a marriage, we are challenged to embrace the changes of our spiritual adventure together. As we go through life’s seasons we are asked to trust that God will use our lives for good, even when we are letting go of the safe and familiar and encountering the unknown. Abraham and Sarah embraced this task initially but struggled with it over time. They agreed to leave their home but became anxious when their dream and God’s plan seemed slow in the fulfillment.
They had left friends and the security of a successful life in place they know and loved. They faced the physical and psychological adjustments that come with age and the senior season. Gradually, their sense of holy adventure ebbed away.
What has impacted your life as a holy adventure?
