Body Building Daily Devotional- 68

HEBREWS 12:2a | 2a looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.

The image of a runner shedding the weight of extra clothing and removing a backpack to be light and free of movement underlies this metaphor. But how do we lighten our psychological and spiritual burdens? Is it just a matter of ignoring them, and pushing on with determination?

No—we look to Jesus as the pioneer of our faith. Pioneers make a way where there is no way. They blaze a trail, literally or figuratively. There are pioneers who plant new communities and explore new territories and some who make discoveries and invent new methods or processes. Jesus blazed a trail connecting earth and heaven. He pioneered a path that connected human brokenness and divine perfection. He planted a kingdom colony on terrestrial soil. He freed us from the burdens we carry and the sin that clings.

Have you ever blazed a trail?
