Broken and the Blessed, Lent Day 32
by David Joynt on April 01, 2017
DAY 31
Despite all the new insights God gave Paul in the midst of his failures, the great apostle never lost his profound sense of being part of God’s chosen people. The new did not replace or diminish the old, but filled it full of meaning. The covenant, the promises, the law, the history of blessing and judgment, all of it was precious and vital. He wrestled with Jewish rejection of Jesus and saw its purpose within the Providence of God to be the extension of the Kingdom beyond Israel to the broader world. But he held onto hope for God’s original people too.
Pray a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s people—Israel.
FAMILY TIME:
If you have a family tree, show it to your kids.
If not, make one.
Discuss the way, as Christians, we have become part of God’s Jewish family tree, with people like Moses and Abraham as members.
