Broken and the Blessed Week 3, Day 3
by David Joynt on January 24, 2017
A second sign of meekness, or strength conditioned by humility, is a willingness to take advice and appropriate criticism. In today’s passage Moses gets family advice from his father-in-law, Jethro, about leadership and the perils of concentrated authority. (Good leaders share their power and equip others). Accepting Jethro’s advice means acknowledging the failure of his own strategy and the shortcomings of his own approach. Moses does so without defensiveness - glad for the opportunity to improve as person and a leader.
Do you have this kind of meekness?
How defensive are you?
FAMILY TIME—
When has someone given you great advice? How did it help you?
