Broken and the Blessed Week 4, Day 3

by David Joynt on January 31, 2017

DAY 24

2 KINGS 22: 8-10

The reign of Josiah from 641 BCE to 610 is instructive when it comes to the issue of righteousness. The King sets about restoring the house of the Lord and during the construction a “book of the law” is discovered. Many scholars believe it was the book of Deuteronomy. After hearing it read, Josiah recognizes that he and his people had not been living in accordance with God’s will. He insists that, going forward, this book will be the standard for what personal and emotional righteousness looks like.

Why is our age so hostile to the idea of God defining goodness?

Where do you look for your standard of righteousness?

FAMILY TIME—

Who is the person you know best who displays a lot of goodness? What does it look like?

Find dictionary descriptions of a few words from the newspaper or a magazine. Talk about the bible as the source of our knowledge of truth and error.
