Broken and the Blessed Week 7, Day 6
by David Joynt on February 24, 2017
DAY 48
In our series, we remind ourselves that we are broken and blessed. When we are engaged in peacemaking and justice seeking, it is very easy to demonize our opponents. In politics, we often have to take sides to make progress, but as Jesus’ followers, we must resist the tendency to locate evil only outside ourselves, on the “other side of the issue.” This leads to scorched earth strategies and to a politics of destruction, which we see in our own American discussions. We are all broken and must maintain a genuine humility in our seeking of justice and building of peace.
Pray for a spirit of humility in conflicts.
Pray for a change in American political life.
FAMILY TIME:
Take an issue where you disagree. Change sides and argue the other person’s viewpoint.
