Broken and the Blessed Week 7, Day1

WEEK 7

DAY 43

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9

What comes to mind when you think of peace? In English, peace has two connotations. One is inward tranquility, and the other is the outward absence of conflict. But these ideas do not capture the Biblical concept of Shalom, which goes deeper on the inside and the outside than psychological felicity or temporary truces.

Shalom involves the comprehensive well being of every creature and is understood in terms of relationships. Only when relationships within and between all people are whole, just, and complete can we say that Shalom exists fully.
