Celebrate! May 10, 2025 Devotional

by David Joynt on May 10, 2025

JOHN 1:14, 16-18 | 14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.

16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, himself God, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.

As generations rise and pass away, it may sometimes seem futile to work at passing wisdom on to others. We can’t know whether they’ll do the same. We wonder if what we know will be seen as outdated and irrelevant. We are sometimes pessimistic about the future and human stewardship of the earth and our society. Then we must remember that the kingdom God builds through us is forever, that the earth and the cosmos will be renewed, that the truths we’ve been given to live out and share are not cultural artifacts, but unshakeable and irreplaceable divine realities.

Do you have confidence in Jesus’s wisdom and Scripture’s truths?

Gracious God,

Help me gain my life by losing it for Your sake, trusting that Your truths abide forever and Your kingdom will never end.

Amen.
