Celebrate! May 4, 2025 Devotional

DEUTERONOMY 6:6-9 | 6 Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, 9 and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
When a child is born there is a sense of hope—it is as if life itself begins again! A new name is given, a new story unfolds, a new mind exists to solve problems, a new heart to show love, a new hand to lift burdens, new eyes to see possibilities, new ears to listen and learn.
Yet each new life also presents a monumental challenge. For a new child has no concepts, no words, no moral principles, no frame of reference, no knowledge, no skills. Everything that has ever been known must be passed on or it is lost! Civilization hangs by a generational thread. Every past insight in every area of human endeavor, every historical lesson, every precious practice, must be taught.
Pray for parents and teachers!
Gracious God,
Bless families who partner with churches in raising disciples. Give them passion for the task. Equip them. Encourage them.
Amen.
