Christmas at the Movies: Week 2, Day 5
by David Joynt on December 14, 2017
Luke 21:1-4 | Matthew 19:13-15
The way Jesus looks at people, and the ones that impress him,
reveals once again the exaltation of the lowly. He finds faith in a
Roman soldier. He commissions a Samaritan woman to enlist
others in the faith. He picks out a poor elderly woman as a model
of generosity. He insists that little children are models we must
imitate in order to enter the Kingdom. He commends those who
quietly and unselfconsciously served the needs of the imprisoned,
the sick, the hungry, and the unsheltered. The world's hierarchy
is upended.
Whom do you notice? Who impresses you?
Do you share Jesus' values in what you admire?
