Divine Dining March 10, 2026 Devotional

by David Joynt on March 10, 2026

LUKE 10:39 | 39 She had a sister named Mary, who sat at Jesus’s feet and listened to what he was saying.

To “sit at someone’s feet” is an expression used of pupils with a master, or disciples with their teacher. It is a posture of dedicated attention, like a student that sits in the front row and eagerly takes notes in a lecture.

Mary wanted to learn from Jesus, to be inspired by Him. She gave Him the gift all teachers crave—genuine engagement and focus. Now we all get to pick what we will focus on and how intense that focus will be.

A focus on the teaching of Jesus, His words and commands and stories will yield great things, including a transformed mind, a clearer purpose, and a larger heart.

Give Jesus five minutes today of undisturbed and total attention.

Gracious God,

Give me the gift of attentiveness. Help me be present in the present, not dwelling over the past or worrying about the future. Let me sit at Your feet.

Amen.
