Dwell in the House of the Lord Volume 1, Day 20

1 Timothy 6:6-8 | 6 Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment; 7 for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; 8 but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
You and I have contentment quandaries connected to our
satiability quotient. Much of our internal exhaustion relates to our expectations. Our spiritual and psychological discontents relate to the things we want and dream about. Imagination, ambition, and desire can outrun reality, and without care we can become perpetually discontented—life never lives up to our expectations. Christians must avoid perfectionism which fosters a spirit of restless discontent. We are not home yet. The kingdom has not fully come. We long for the new creation to be complete, but until it is, we must learn to be content in different circumstances, knowing that life with God is a prize far greater than our secret ambitions.
Are you easily or rarely satisfied?
Have you learned to be content?
