JOHN 1:3 | 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.
MATTHEW 25:31-32 | 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
The relevance and importance of Jesus’ claims about his teaching is tied directly to his identity. He has a unique authority that is rooted in his role as creator and as judge.
Since “all things were created through him,” including us, he has a unique and irreplaceable claim to know our natures. The author or artist is in a privileged position with respect to their own books or creations. Our character, purpose, limitation, and destiny are a product of his design. This confers special authority on his views.
Further, he is our final Judge! He is the one who evaluates and assesses the meaning of our words and deeds. He has the ultimate say on what is unrighteous and what is righteous.
Can you see how Jesus’ claims about his identity connect to his claims about his teaching?
