MATTHEW 4:4 | 4 But he answered, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
JOHN 4:31-32 | 31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, “Rabbi, eat something.” 32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
There is a spiritual strength and power that can only come from meditating on Jesus’ words and the Holy Scriptures. Nothing else can substitute.
Jesus fought Satan by using the humble and natural means of scripture, quoting three times from Deuteronomy. Truth defeats lies and deception. But truth must be internalized, kept in the heart and head in order to be available and useful. Learning to meditate on scripture is vital.
Use your imagination to enter the Bible’s stories, make friends with its characters, become familiar with its scenes and scenarios. Let your mental framework become biblical. Then you will be sustained and empowered, for the dramatic moments and the day to day encounters.
Have you learned to meditate on Scripture?
