Everyday Saints Devotional 45

LEVITICUS 19:15 | 15 You shall not render an unjust
judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbor.

Love and justice are connected in the bible. I love the way these great ideas are grounded, brought down from the heights of
generality to the knitty-gritty level of everyday interactions. Here the general principles “do justice to your neighbor,” and “make no
unjust judgement,” which are the positive and negative forms of the justice command, are given a practical focus. The phrase “Do not be partial to the poor or defer to the great” levels the playing field, in courtrooms and social situations. We must never have double standards, legally or personally. We must not cultivate others in hopes of return, as a means to our end. All people must be treated as neighbors, and all loved.

Are you consistent with others, regardless of status?

When does networking violate this scripture?
