DEUTERONOMY 6:10-11 | 10 When the Lord your God has brought you into the land that he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, 11 houses filled with all sorts of goods that you did not fill, hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you have eaten your fill.
Recalling the ways God has previously blessed us puts us in touch with Him, since he is known to us primarily through his benefits. Further remembering past acts of grace awakens us to what he is currently doing. We can see clearly how we are being blessed in the present. During the pandemic my awareness of the way healthcare workers and grocery employees were blessing me grew enormously.
God encourages Israel to see the houses, cities, cisterns, and vineyards as present tense blessings. Every time they walked a street, returned home, or drank a glass of wine or water, they could feel blessed.
What in your day today is a divine blessing?
