DEUTERONOMY 31:1-3, 6| 1 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 2 he said to them: “I am now one hundred twenty years old. I am no longer able to get about, and the Lord has told me, ‘You shall not cross over this Jordan.’ 3 The Lord your God himself will cross over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua also will cross over before you, as the Lord promised.
6 Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.”
All of us should be mentors. Each of us has something worth passing on, worth sharing. It is exciting to see a new generation of leaders and servants rising up and stepping forward. We are links in a great chain and bear some responsibility for its strength. All of us will reach a point where we say, with Moses, I am 120, or 75, and the next phase of this journey will need to be led by someone else. This is the way of families, in corporations, on teams, in schools and in churches and Kingdom organizations.
At the point of passing the torch of leadership, what a joy to be excited that another who you’ve helped and nurtured and prayed for will carry on!
When have you mentored someone and passed a responsibility?
