Everyday Saints Devotional 57

LUKE 8:43| 43 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years; and though she had spent all she had on physicians, no one could cure her.
The nameless woman who had been bleeding for 12 years knew about suffering. She understood, as many readers of this devotional do, the frustrations of long term illness: the rounds of doctors and putative cures, the cycles of hope and despair, the tiredness and the mental exhaustion. She also knew a further burden, the stigma of uncleanness. She was stained with the mark of official religious rejection, for Leviticus 6:19-30 declared anyone in her condition to be unfit for human contact. Anyone who touched her was automatically also unclean. Worship was out of bounds. She had gone more than a decade without human contact.
Have you ever dealt with long term illness? What did you find hard?
Did God grow your heart through the struggle?
Pray for those who deal with illness.
