REVELATION 21:22| 22 I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
REVELATION 22:3-4 | 3 Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him; 4 they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
MATTHEW 5:8 | 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
1 JOHN 3:2 | 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.
There is no temple in the city! Ezekiel had hoped Jerusalem reborn would have a temple, and spends chapters 40-43 describing it. But John has a deeper thought: God’s presence will be so tangible the entire city will be a sanctuary! There is total access to His presence—the gates of the city are always open.
Eastern kings granted friendship when they gave a subject “face time,” signaling not just a temporary audience, but an ongoing relationship of trust and openness. To see God’s face is to be changed so that we can share in His goodness and holiness, rejoice in His beauty, and delight in His love.
When was the last time you had a brief “God sighting?”
(A time when you sensed His presence or discerned His action.)
Imagine if that moment was continuous!
