1 PETER 4:14 | 14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory, which is the Spirit of God, is resting on you.
ACTS 6:15 | 15 And all who sat in the council looked intently at him, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
MATTHEW 17:2 | 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became bright as light.
I have seen God’s glory rest on people in the middle of a crisis or when their earthly journey is ending and the shadows are lengthening. Stephen was said to have the face of an angel, prior to his martyrdom in Acts. Jesus shone with light and glory on the mountain before the coming event of the cross. The “shekinah,” or divine glory, appeared at crucial moments to reassure the nation of God’s power and presence.
It is humbling to think that some glory which awed Isaiah in the Temple, or John in his revelation visions of heaven, or the Israelites at the foot of Mount Sinai, can reside in us and be visible to others.
When have you seen God’s glory?
Gracious God,
May my suffering glorify You and may You share some of Your shekinah with all who face things final or tragic in faith.
Amen.
