1 PETER 2:9b-10 | 9b In order that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
An authentic Christian community is filled with people who know they have been chosen by God, that they are precious, and that they are His prized possessions. When we look back, we marvel that before we came to know Jesus, none of this was true. We were not His people in a full and true sense, and we were strangers to His mercy and love. What a contrast and what a change.
Therefore, an authentic Christian community is a place of celebration. The metaphor of living stones cemented together implies a sanctuary where we are free and eager to “declare the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Let your prayers today be a celebration that you belong to God and are infinitely precious to Him.
Gracious God,
Despite my burdens and my struggles, I am Yours! Hallelujah and amen! Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your light.
