Get Real October 31 Devotional

1 PETER 2:2 | 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure milk of God’s word...
The connection between the pure and guileless life and the guileless word is not incidental or accidental. Junk food hurts our physical health, untruth disorients us, and false ideas harm our spiritual well-being. The pure truth of God’s word nourishes a pure and true life.
Similarly, the wrong kind of attitudes and relationships can spoil our appetite for scripture, putting us off our real food. We have a healthy appetite for scriptural encounter when we have a healthy attitude toward others.
Does this reciprocal relationship between relationships and God’s word make sense to you?
Gracious God,
Reorder my hungers and fix my desires. Let me seek Your wisdom, Your guidance, and Your health, producing truth. May my relationships with others contribute to my desire to know You.
Amen.
