Growing Joy June 22 Devotional
by David Joynt on June 22, 2023
LUKE 15:7 | 7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
What makes God rejoice? He is already full of continuous joy, the happiest being in the universe. He sees the boiling insides of stars burst into supernovas in a thousand galaxies. He delights in every achievement by every person, every day, all over this planet (we get excited on a single starry night or when we take a new step toward a goal). We are pumped up by our small projects, He is continuously creating and sustaining all life in its myriad forms.
Yet, Jesus teaches God’s greatest excitement, heaven’s deepest joy, is saved for the moments when people turn from darkness to light, from self to their Shepherd, from death and lostness, to life.
Rejoice over something today.
Gracious God,
You choose to rejoice over our recoveries, our commitments, our repentance, and our growth. Thank You! Thank you! Thank you!
Amen.
