I Am Because You Are October 10, 2025 Devotional

1 CORINTHIANS 15:20 | 20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.
REVELATION 21:1, 5 | 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
5 And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
To be saved, from death, personally is not enough, though it is amazing. More lifetimes in a broken world would be a mixed blessing, but the Resurrection was not just an event in the life of a first century Jewish carpenter. It was not just a part of the fulfillment of the promises to Israel. All creation was raised with Jesus too! In the Resurrection we see the beginning of a new world, of the victory of goodness over evil, life over death, love over hate, peace over conflict and division. All creation groans, yes, and there is still a bondage to death and decay, as Saint Paul says so truthfully and elegantly, but the new life visible in the Resurrected Jesus, shared with those who believe is a sign that all creation will be renewed and remade. Our resurrections will take place in a creation transformed.
Do you see the Resurrection as a cosmic event?
Gracious God,
Fix the broken things. Heal the pain. Reverse the sorrow. Undo the suffering. Release the prisoner. Make all things new!
Amen.
