JOHN 14:1 | ¹ Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

Leadership transitions can be difficult. When a group trusts a leader and when bonds of connection and mutual respect run deep, the loss of a leader can feel like a crisis, and it is always a turning point. Imagine losing a leader like Jesus! Unmatched intelligence, incredible compassion, fantastic courage, remarkable love, world changing vision. He understood that His death would be massively difficult for His followers and told them, “when they strike the Shepherd, the flock will scatter.” Yet, Jesus had to balance His realism with reassurance, letting His disciples know about the coming trauma, and also insisting His departure had a purpose and they would not be left “orphaned.”

Gracious God,

Thank You for providing leaders for our earthly sojourn. Bless them with faith, conviction, and vision. Help me to trust that Your Spirit will guide my future and the future of my faith community.
