I Am Because You Are October 16, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 14:6a | 6a Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth...
JOHN 1:14 | 14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
John loves to emphasize the relationship between Jesus and truth. His glory, as the word made flesh, was that He was full of both grace and truth. The truth alone, particularly about our need and brokenness, and God’s perfection and goodness, would be discouraging on its own. Truth can be faced because of God’s loving embrace of us despite our flaws. Grace alone, without truth, leaves us out of touch with the reality of our lives and becomes false affirmation of the status quo. To receive grace as gracious we need the truth about God and ourselves. Against every form of relativism, and against the skeptical stance of secular humanism, Jesus asserts that in Him we can find absolute truth. He is the reason there is reason!
Do you see why grace and truth together are glorious?
Gracious God,
I want a deeper dose of Your grace and Your truth. Help me to see myself and the world as they are and then see both through Your loving eyes.
Amen.
