I Am Because You Are October 19, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 15:5a | ^5a I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit...

You and I were made to be difference makers, to make a mark, to have an impact. Here, Jesus promises our lives will be fruitful if we are continuously connected to Him, as a branch to the vine.

Now, fruitfulness varies with conditions and climate in agriculture and in the Christian life. Some soil is hard or thin, some is rich and deep. Sunshine and water are plentiful in some places, scarce in others. This makes comparing crops hard and sometimes impossible. In the U.S.A receptivity to the Christian message varies by region, age group, and setting. Some secular locations, like many universities, are difficult ground. But with these qualifications it still remains true: wherever we are we can be fruitful if connected deeply to our Lord—no ground is too hard, no situation too bleak, for Him.

Memorize this promise.

Gracious God,

Show me the way to fruitful and faithful connection with You. Use my words and deeds to build Your kingdom.
