I Am Because You Are October 3, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 10:16 | 16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
We have been exploring what makes God’s shepherding good. In our verses today Jesus hints at the universal impact of His life, death, and resurrection. Part of what makes Jesus a wonderful shepherd is His personal care for His “little flock” of disciples, calling them by name, giving them nicknames, bringing out their individual gifts, entrusting ministry to them, mentoring and teaching them. His willingness to go deep with them, investing so much love and time in their development and nurture is amazing.
But He also wants to reach many others, in many places and cultures. He is creating “one flock,” one great kingdom community, more diverse from any other in history. Yet it will be unified like no other, joined together by His Lordship, by a single faith, by sacramental union, and by a shared eternal destiny. A shepherd like no other!
Have you experienced the surprising unity of the diverse body of Christ?
Gracious God,
Thank You for a church that crosses boundaries of language, race, culture, and nation. Unite us now, as a sign of the coming kingdom.
Amen.
