I Am Because You Are October 5, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 11:33-36 | ³³ When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. ³⁴ He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” ³⁵ Jesus began to weep. ³⁶ So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”

Jesus weeps! One of the great questions about God in our world of suffering, where loss and sorrow touch everyone, is answered in this short phrase. God is never indifferent to our pain, never unmoved by our terms, never separate and aloof from our distress. He is not only aware of our struggles, He is impacted by them. He mourns with us, suffers with us, going beyond empathy to identify and share our emotional burdens. At the heart of the universe there is One to whom we matter, in every moment and every circumstance of our lives.

Thank You for entering in and feeling our sorrows and our pain. Alongside, within, and above the indifferent material world, Your magnificent heart carries the world and all its people.
