I Am Because You Are October 9, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 11:25-26 | ²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, ²⁶ and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Jesus is the Resurrection and also the life. Lazarus’ earthy life was extended when Jesus called Him back to life. But our Lord promises more than an extension of ordinary living. Lazarus, after all, later died a second natural death. Jesus promises not simply more of this life as we know it, but a different life entirely. A life not darkened by doubt or confusion, not spoiled by envy or malice, not threatened by disease or death ever again. He promises an eternal existence: those who believe in Me will never die! By Him the divine life of God infuses the human soul, the heavenly kingdom takes over the planet.

Gracious God,

Enliven us. Put to death in us all that is deadly and dire. Bring life to our thoughts, our passions, and our goals. Help us see the eternal kingdom today in the everyday.
