I Am Because You Are September 11, 2025 Devotional

MATTHEW 5:14-16 | ¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵ People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Talk of future judgement must give way to consideration of present witness. Our best strategy to avoid exposure eventually is to live now in such a way that we are light to the world. Jesus’ title of light to the cosmos is transferred to His disciples in this breathtaking passage from the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus emphasizes that our lives are designed for display, they are meant to be signs and     demonstrations of God’s goodness and grace. We are meant to have an impact, to be living proof that God is real and His love is genuine.
