I Am Because You Are September 26, 2025 Devotional

JOHN 10:10b | 10b I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

GALATIANS 5:22-23a | 22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23a gentleness, and self-control.

Where Jesus rules life is richer and fuller and deeper. He brings a better understanding of our lives and purpose, a more profound experience of community and connection, and a stronger hope for this life and the next. False religions constrict and limit, but His truth frees and empowers.

 

Slavery to sin is broken. Slavery to self is banished. Shame and guilt are overcome. Fear and anxiety lose their power. There is growth in love and the fruits of the spirit.

 

Which fruit of the Spirit do you most need right now?

 

 

Gracious God,

I want the abundant life! Let me trust I can find it in You. Help me have a spirit of obedience. Bring out the fruits of the Spirit in me.

David Joynt

Dave Joynt began his service as a pastor at Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, Arizona in September 2014. This meant a move away from the Northeast, where he has a long history, growing up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and then serving congregations in Delaware and New Jersey for a total of 23 years.

Dave was nurtured in a great church in Bethlehem where his parents, Anne and Carey, served as elders. He graduated in classics from Lehigh University where his Father taught, and then from Oxford, where he met his wife Julia. Ordained in 1988, he completed a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1993.

He and Julia have a son, Tristan, and a daughter, Madeleine.
