LUKE 10:5-6 | Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you.
Jesus’ disciples can bring his peace to people and to families. Following the Prince of Peace brings many kinds of shalom. There is emotional peace—we are loved and embraced despite our failings and faults. There is vocational peace, whatever job we do we are called to be his representatives in that particular profession and location. There is relational peace, because we receive resources of patience and forgiveness and mercy, as we deal with one another There is peace in the face of tragedy that comes with a hope for resurrection and renewal.
No one is forced to respond and some peace we share is not accepted—it rebounds back to us. But even this is encouraging, for no peace shared is lost, even when the response is negative or indifferent.
Think of yourself as a peace bestower today.
Which kind of peace do you most need?
