EXODUS 34:8-10 | 8 And Moses quickly bowed down to the ground and worshiped. 9 He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, my Lord, I pray, let my Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” 10 He said, “I hereby make a covenant. Before all your people I will perform marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth or in any nation, and all the people among whom you live shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.
JOHN 1:14 | 14And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
To live a truly human life we need more than the right physical location. We need to have a moral and spiritual destination, a vision of the person we were meant to be. The book of Exodus shows God not only promising Israel a place to live, but also giving them a way to live, a picture of a genuine life. This picture is relational, it focuses on right relations between God and His people and between fellow Israelites. In the Old Testament, this was embodied in the law.
In the New Testament, it was embodied in Jesus, a living example of the true and beautiful life.
How complete is your vision of the beautiful life?
What captures or challenges you about Jesus’ life?
