Lead Like Moses Devotional 53

by David Joynt on August 03, 2022

DEUTERONOMY 6:7 | 7Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.

Teaching, in one sense, is a specific calling including specific gifts and training. Both my parents, Anne and Carey, and my wife Julia, were called by God to be professional teachers.

But in another sense, we are all called to be teachers. Teaching the faith is not just a special burden for professionals but an obligation and a command for “all Israel,” and by implication, the whole church.

Much of the teaching of the faith, and modeling of faithfulness, takes places in the informal setting of the home, between family members and friends. This is where principles get applied,  questions asked, and ideas are lived out.

That is the implication of the command to convey and consider your faith, morning and evening, at home and when away.

How good are you at this task?

What is your “teaching plan”?
