Lead Like Moses Devotional 9

EXODUS 2:21-22 | 21 Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah in marriage. 22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said, “I have been an alien residing in a foreign land.”
There are many ways God brings us to maturity. One way is through our family roles and relationships. There is much to learn, both positive and negative by watching how leadership works in our homes.
Moses now gets to observe a regular family and to begin his own, becoming for the first time a husband and a father. The clan he joins in Midian provides a safe place and a hideout away from Egyptian searches and also the security of work and relationships.
Moses also gets to lead his own small family and to learn how to serve and help a new wife and young son. His son’s name means “alien,” in recognition of Moses’ experience of finding welcome and family as a stranger.
Have family roles deepened your growth as a person and a leader?
