Leading With a Just Heart: Day 5

ISAIAH 58

Jesus’ leadership critique is drawn from the prophets. Here is the classic chapter on His theme. When justice is divorced from worship, then our prayers and offerings become meaningless. Religious observance is hollow when violence lurks, when workers are oppressed, when there is hunger and homelessness, because God’s values and laws are ignored. The Sabbath cannot be separated from the week or our lives become bifurcated, and the righteousness we are told to hunger for fails to resemble the deep desire of God for healing and wholeness in the lives of the broken.

Read Isaiah 58 and notice all the things that break God’s heart.

Which of these things breaks your heart?
