Leading With an Honest Heart: Day 2

Jeremiah 17:9
Psalm 51:1-5
, 10

Spiritual growth is a process of cleansing your heart. The prophet Jeremiah asks, rhetorically, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, beyond cure, who can know it?”

Honesty and transparency are not native to our hearts. We instinctively want to protect our reputations, projecting an image that will “win friends and influence people.” Success and social pressure shape what we say and choose not to say. Facing our  own dark hearts and seeking forgiveness from God is an ongoing practice that helps us achieve honesty with ourselves.

Use Psalm 51:1-5, 10 as a prayer of confession.

Are you honest with yourself?
