Live Your Blessing February 2, 2026 Devotional

GENESIS 12:2-3 | I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

The most remarkable thing about our great God is the way He chooses to respond to our human mess. He decides to bless us, to bless the universally undeserving. His plan for transforming history, Peterson says, "is centered in the power of blessings.”

There are more references to blessings than to prayer in the Bible. In 475 references we see that God’s blessings to us are unexpected and surprising and in every case we don’t get what we do deserve but instead get what we could never deserve.

God chooses to bless the whole world through one elderly man, Abraham, and his wife, Sarah. This was not because Abraham was uniquely gifted or a person with unusual spiritual achievement. He was asked to simply trust that God would bless him and to act on that premise, which he did intermittently. But God kept blessing
him with opportunities to be faithful.

Name two ways you have been specially blessed.

Gracious God,

Give me eyes to see Your many blessings and a heart to feel thankful and a voice to express my gratitude.

Amen.
