HEBREWS 13:2 | ² Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.

We can have a huge impact in the way we notice others. People are used to being seen in an instrumental or transactional way as a means to someone else’s ends or an obstacle to their purposes. A tool or a hindrance. Our natural narcissism warps the world around us, so people are seen in terms of how they help or hinder us, and not as they are in themselves.

When we notice tenderly and truly, without being disgusted or discouraged by someone’s imperfections, it is as if we are “entertaining angels.” They are affirmed beyond their flaws, blessed despite their struggles, found in their lostness.

Watch the way you notice others today.

Gracious God,

I want to entertain angels. Let me start by noticing people, really seeing them without prejudice or secondary purpose. Teach me to see as You do.
