Marked Devotional 16

by David Joynt on March 21, 2022

PHILIPPIANS 2:15 | 15 so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.

Why do I think current culture isn’t sufficiently focused on soul care? There are dozens of reasons, but several prominent ones stand out. The fear of death and the tendency to ignore its reality, speak to a neglect of life’s spiritual questions and the soul’s destiny. There is a resistance to soul care in the rise of unbelief, that treats spiritual beliefs as unnecessary superstitions; the very determined resistance to traditional morality and the futile belief that individuals can construct their own moral universes, which stand in contradiction to one another; the romantic cult of individual desire, divorced from any common conception of the good life; and the emphasis on distraction and pleasure and entertainment over study and prayer and character development.

Do you think our culture is missing out on soul care?
