ISAIAH 25:9 | 9It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
Isaiah’s hope for a world he never saw was so strong, he called the suffering and soon to be judged people to rejoice in their rescue before it happened. He wants them to rejoice in their salvation.
One deep mark of authentic Christian discipleship is the capacity to rejoice in this way. Through Jesus, as we honor Him in the scriptures, we get to see this salvation touch and transform the guilty, the confused, the lonely, the diseased, the dying, the possessed, the rebellious, and the hopeless. Pictures of the coming kingdom and the great feast sound different to us, because they came from our Maker, Redeemer, and Friend, who exercised authority over evil and death.
Find two promises of Jesus in the gospels and read them to yourself several times. Rejoice in that Lord restores.
