New? February 13 Devotional

by David Joynt on February 13, 2025

1 PETER 4:10 | 10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.

The Christian disciple customizes her stewardship in a personal way. Though we all must seek to love and serve, how we do this will be highly individual. To begin with the way we love and serve will vary with “the manifold grace of God.” This phrase refers to the different spiritual gifts we possess whose purpose is to enhance the life and mission of Christ’s community. Some serve and express love by teaching. Some via exercising organizational capacity. Others do so by empathy, the ability to “come alongside” others emotionally. Some are skilled in discernment, some offer practical assistance, some create beauty in worship. All share resources, but these gifts vary with capacity. Even if we all offer hospitality this shared activity will take on different flavors because of differing personalities. Some people throw a grand celebration, other make a personal retreat. Good stewardship and genuine generosity are a custom, and personal matter.

How customized is your stewardship?

Gracious God,

Thank you that your grace is manifold and your service is individual. Help me use my gifts to the full.

Amen.
