New? February 14 Devotional
by David Joynt on February 14, 2025
1 PETER 4:11a | 11 Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies...
These phrases speak to immense power and authority we can experience in our daily lives and individual work. When we speak in congruence and conformity with the words of scripture, and do so with the aid and guidance of God’s spirit, we speak with divine authority. This is, at the same time an awesome and challenging view of preaching, and an elevation of everyday speech for all disciples. We can be the bearers, as the prophets were, of divine messages!
Further, our service is not defined and circumscribed by the very finite amounts of energy, determination, and focus we can offer out of our own meagre resources. We can count on the strength of heaven in holy endeavors, especially when we serve and care for others.
Which do you crave most? More divine authority or power?
Gracious God,
Thank you that you bestow your own strength on our small efforts, and your unique authority on our small words.
Amen.
