Pray Without Ceasing, Week 4, Day 22

by David Joynt on June 23, 2019

PSALM 84:1-2 | How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Most Israelites visited the Temple in Jerusalem once a year. The memories of their annual pilgrimage had to last throughout all the other weeks when they were not able to see the great pillared carts, hear the festive music, smell the holy incense, and take part in the dramatic services. This is their psalm. It is a psalm of longing and desire fueled by the memory of a deep spiritual encounter. The equivalent for us is a retreat experience, a time when our focus in God was complete and all other priorities were set aside.

Do you have memories of sacred encounter?
Pray that our renovated sanctuary will spark deep experiences and special memories.
