Pray Without Ceasing, Week 7, Day 48

PSALM 74:15-17 | You cut openings for springs and torrents; you dried up ever-flowing streams. Yours is the day, yours also the night; you established the luminaries and the sun. You have fixed all the bounds of the earth; you made summer and winter.

Furthermore, God’s work in creation proves his capacity extends far beyond all earthly powers. He is the source of rivers and springs, the one who put the night sky into its moving and luminous order. He established the seasons and all the rhythms of nature, which existed before and will supersede earthly kings and kingdoms. The psalmist lifts his eyes to the living backdrop of the earth and the sky, reminding himself that Yahweh reigns.
