Do you meditate on scripture? Many of us have learned to read for context and information but not learned how to meditate and savor scripture.
Sometimes I eat to survive, paying little attention to the food or its preparation. But sometimes I create a feast, with love and attention, and savor it. Scripture is to be savored like a great meal. Use your imagination to enter its scenes—what are the colors like, the smells and the scenery? What emotions permeate the scene? What would it be like to be present as a disciple, or an onlooker? How does this scripture fit into its context? Into the overall story of the bible? How does it apply to your life?
Take delight in Psalm 1 today! Savor it.
