JAMES 1:15 |¹⁵ then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death.

We all have good desires that can become temptations with deadly results. Holy ambition can become a selfish search for personal glory that distorts our relationships and dominates our time and energy, robbing the people of our lives of our love and attention. The desire to love and be loved can become the desire to seduce and be seduced, to possess without promises or responsibilities, and finally, the separation of sex from love and genuine care in the search for immediate pleasures. The desire for food can become gluttony, and lead to debilitating health issues.

These negative life-diminishing sin effects are a sign of an underlying reality. Sin gives birth to death. Evil corrupts good.
