The world divides us. Marketers segment us. Sociologists identify us by ethnicity, race, gender, age, origin, and economic standing. But God’s Spirit, in the name of God’s unifying purpose, overcomes all these differences in a unity that accommodates uniqueness.
Pentecost was a preview of this amazing possibility, a precursor of the barrier-breaking, culture-embracing Christian movement. In every generation, the Church has to meet the challenge of fostering richer relationships among God’s diverse children.
