Set Apart Devotional June 15

by David Joynt on June 15, 2024

LEVITICUS 2:1 |  1 When anyone presents a grain offering to the Lord, the offering shall be of choice flour; the worshiper shall pour oil on it and put frankincense on it.

LEVITICUS 3:1 | 1 If the offering is a sacrifice of well-being, if you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you shall offer one without blemish before the Lord.

Not all the offerings described in Leviticus 1-7 deal directly with   brokenness. The grain and fellowship offerings are a sharing of a portion of the fruits of labor and industry. They express thanks for the blessing of food and nature’s many life sustaining elements. They use ritual to remind us that God’s gifts include the daily work we do, the meals we make and share, and the productive relationships we enjoy. The offering system in Leviticus is an invitation to face our brokenness in the one hand, to come near to the Holy One, but it is also an invitation to celebrate His presence in every good and perfect gift.

Do you approach God in thankfulness and repentance, in joy and godly sorrow?

Gracious God,

Help me to worship You with true emotion and real devotion. Let me face my brokenness and feel great thankfulness in Your presence.

Amen.
